BlackBook Bets
Week: 2.7 units profit (26.8% PoT)
Overall: 290.6 units profit (8.0% PoT)
A relatively quiet week by Lachlan’s busy standards, backing just the ten horses. We only snagged the one winner – Naantali (Flemington, Saturday) – but a clutch of seconds and thirds ensured a profit anyway thanks to Lachlan’s fantastic staking method. Backing one winner in ten but still producing over 25% PoT is remarkable, and a testament to that staking plan.
NSW Tips & Ratings
Week: 1.4 units profit (16.7% PoT)
Overall: 90.9 units profit (18.0% PoT)
Also a quiet week for Mark – as he said on Saturday, there’s no point forcing substandard bets when they don’t meet the value criteria. We backed eight horses, nailing two winners in Island Missile (Warwick Farm, Wednesday) and Californiafirebird (Gosford, Thursday). This ensured Mark churned out yet another week’s profit to add to the sizeable stack we’ve made in recent times.
John's Analytics
Week: -1.1 units profit (-6.5% PoT)
Overall: 203.4 units profit (15.1% PoT)
As we said last week, in recent times John has copped some (probably well overdue!) negative variance after months and months of extremely strong results. Although we’re yet to return to the juicy profits, the brief slide has been well and truly arrested – once again we basically broke even this week, losing just the one unit. As usual John was able to search far and wide, with our one winner, Culzean, coming on Wednesday at Darwin. Yet again, a few placings mitigated any losses thanks to smart staking… one winner from twelve horses backed, yet we still didn’t lose significantly.
NRL Tips
Week: -1.0 units profit (-4.9% PoT)
Overall: 31.4 units profit (1.5% PoT)
We once again rode the unders this week, having a bet on the totals in eight games. We split our results, collecting on Parramatta v Canterbury, Wests v Souths, North Queensland v St George Illawarra and New Zealand v Melbourne. That left us with a small loss for the week. Not the huge profits of last week, but no real damage done.
Golf
Week: -1.6 units profit (-100% PoT)
Overall: 46.4 units profit (16.9% PoT)
One of golf’s marquee events this week in the British Open, with John following his standard motus operandi – 14 longshots staked at 0.1 or 0.2 units each, all priced at $170 or greater. His remarkable ability to find value was once again on display, with seven of these players making the cut – including Shubhankar Sharma who we backed to win at $880. No collects from these players, but John once again showed his eye for form with this extra tidbit, delivered on Wednesday…
"If you like taking the shorts, Molinari is the best player in the world at present at $38, but you will get $50 in the run - not recorded."
Molinari of course went on to win the tournament, with the in-play odds blowing out as predicted – one member reported getting on once at $50 and again at $100. Even when not an official bet, it pays to follow John’s advice!
AFL Tips
Week: -3.2 units profit (26.7% PoT)
Overall: 18.4 units profit (16.0% PoT)
A frustrating week on the AFL front, as we were unable to replicate our hot form of recent weeks. Two of our eight bets saluted, with West Coast and GWS both covering the line for us.
Cricket
No completed bets for cricket this week – we have a couple pending on the second test between South Africa and Sri Lanka.
