This Saturday we have two Group races at Rosehill and Listed races at Moonee Valley, Morphettville Parks and Belmont. Spring is nearly here.
The Group 3 $250,000 San Domenico Stakes for 3YOs is over 1100m and interestingly this year apart from one filly they are all colts - no geldings! There are some quality colts, including 3 sired by Russian Revolution, with several runners that are unbeaten so far. Runners include The Instructor, Corniche, Libertad, Kandinsky Abstract and Barber. The Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes is also for 3YOs but is over 1300m and looks very open.
Moonee Valley has 10 races where the feature is the Listed $175,000 Carlyon Stakes over 1000m where Omni Man and Acromantula lead the market, but with many runners resuming from a spell there appear to be several chances.
At Morphettville Parks the feature is the Listed $120,000 Leon Macdonald Stakes over 1400m. Last year Leon won this race with Dalasan in a training partnership with son-in-law Andrew Gluyas, but Leon has now retired. The favourite in the race is See You In Heaven who won the Behemoth Stakes 2 weeks ago and looks a winning chance again, although the placegetters from that race are also running here.The feature at Belmont is the Listed $125,000 Idyllic Prince Stakes over 1300m where the youngest runner is 5YO and the oldest is 10YO. The favourite Phanta is going for a hat-trick but is up against some tough opposition.
