There is black-type racing in 4 states today. The second Group 1 race of the Perth Summer Racing Carnival is the $1,500,000 Winterbottom Stakes. It has attracted some eastern state raiders including early favourite Overpass and Group 1 winner Savatoxl as well as local stalwarts Red Can Man, Hot Zed, My Bella Mae, Ripcord and Oscar's Fortune. The support races include the Listed Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic with Duchess Of Gossip, Amber Glide and Rusty Dreams, and the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic with Augment, Investmentstrategy and Miss Rockjoy.
Caulfield has 10 races including 5 Group races and 3 Listed races. The betting is fairly open for the Group 2 $750,000 Zipping Classic which includes last year's winner Vow And Declare. The Group 2 $300,000 Sandown Guineas includes Arkansaw Kid, Modown and Power Of The Brave.
At Rosehill the main feature is the Group 3 $250,000 Festival Stakes where Grebeni, Rustic Steel, Finepoint and Phearson all look to have claims. There is also the Listed $200,000 Christmas Cup over 2400m and the Listed Starlight Stakes over 1100m.
The main race at Doomben is the Group 3 $200,000 George Moore Stakes over 1200m with Rothfire, Nettuno and Zoustyle, plus there are 2 Listed races. |
